Young Democrat of the Year pt. 2
If the Young Democrats of Illinois or Young Democrats of Cook County presented an annual or biennial award for the Young Democrat of the Year, what consideration should candidates be given? What crietrion should we use to judge a recipient? Also, should the award be titled? I like the idea of giving it a name. So, rack your brains and get back to me. I will list some notable Illinois Democrats and you guys give me your feedback.

Young Democrat of the Year?
This is a statewide question. If there were such an award as Young Democrat of the Year to whom should it be awarded? Please tell why. This person can be from anywhere in the state, please make compelling arguments. If you pick Kristopher J. Anderson please do not do so based on my boyish look, excellent charm or quick wit!

Are you taking the group travel plan (Southwest Airlines, $250, departing 3:45 Thurs., Aug. 4 returing 2:45p Sun., Aug. 7)?

HDO, roaring lion or paper tiger?
The Chicago Sun-Times (

Streets of San Francisco Pt. 2
I invite you all to join me for a brief conference call on Thursday evening. Our main agenda item will be transportation to San Francisco. I have secured a group rate of $250. departing from MDW on Thurs. afternoon and Fri. early morning both flights land at OAK and depart early Sunday morning. If you know of a better deal please present the information on the conference call. Deposits will be due soon and with the absence of a group rate travel may be very expensive. Last, this may be a good opportunity for people to begin their roommate search.
Thank you in advance.
Additionally, a special thanks to Brian Cross for arranging the call.

So this is a great format for searching for roommates and start talking about travelling to the airport. Feel free to do so.
Last, if you have questions about the YDA convention feel free to do so, there are plenty of vets that can assist.
D-Town Upd
We had a good time in Detroit. I wish you all could have been there. I will offer some recap.
1st Thanks and big up to all my peeps that formed the Illinois Delegation
Jason Ervin, Jawharial "Omar" Williams, Aja "6 Blocks" Jackson, Devan Turner, Constance Hicks, Catherine Campbell, Maze Jackson, Tynarrie Hill, another 27th Warder, Brian Cross, Sandy "Brian's better half" Cross, Gary Medina, Emily, my good friend from the 1st Ward, Martin Flower, Jennifer Flowers, Mike Logan and my good friend from the sheriff's office.
2nd Congratulations to Jason Ervin, the new Director of the Great Lakes Region. Jason is responsible for coordinating activities (administrative and campaign) for the states of Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Michigan.
3rd Congratulations to Maze Jackson who host a well received party. The proceeds of the event benefit the minority caucus. Please check with Maze to see how much was raised.
4th I distributed a letter with my fellow slate mates. A copy of the letter is available. My campaign is being well received and I am continuing to tout my campaign theme that "I am better than my opponent". This is a not so inside joke for those of you following YDA politics.
5th The Michigan delegation did a great job of hosting us.
The Daley Factor
Does Bill Daley have a future in elected politics? I think this blurb is interesting. Please, comment.
www.suntims.comBill Daley sizing up run for governor
June 5, 2005
Sources close to former Secretary of Commerce William Daley report that there is an outside chance that he still could challenge politically declining Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich in next year's Democratic primary.
Daley, the brother of Mayor Daley, could have had the governor's nomination for the asking in 2002 but instead took a corporate position in San Antonio. Now back in Chicago, he is looking seriously at the governor's office, but is more likely to try in 2010 than in 2006.
A footnote: Friends of Jim Edgar say the two-term Republican governor is seriously considering a comeback against Blagojevich in 2006. But most Republican politicians doubt that Edgar is serious about running.
Please donate blood
It was brought to my attention that blood supplies are dangerously low. Please visit your local blood bank. For those of you in the Loop (Downtown Chicago) you may visit Lifesource at the State of Illinois Building/ Thompson Building.
I have donated since high school. It is relatively painless and it takes a hour of less. Plus, juice, cookies and chips are available afterwards.
Thank you in advance.
