From time to time I will post photos

This photo shows me with a plaque awarded to me by the Young Democrats of Illinois at our last convention.

Damn law school!

I was at law school orientation last week. I missed my first Governor's/Democrat Day in nearly 3 years. Please share any comments or highlights from this past Governor's Day. Please fill me in, I would like to hear all the stories.

Gulfport, MS is still the place!

I believe Hurricane Ketrina is a plot of the Republican National Committee (RNC)! (Not really.) But less than one week after our first national committee location is announced it is socked by a hurricane, I smell a rat! I encourage everyone to keep the people of the Gulf in your prayers and I believe it is a good thing for us Yankees to send well wish notes to our friends in the South. We still have three months before our meeting thus, do not expect any changes to our plan but please stay abreast with me or the YDA website (www.yda.org).

Law School

If anyone reading the post is interested in attending law school; DON'T. :-)

Seriously, it is alot of work but I am enjoying myself and enjoying my classmates. A classmate from another section is a former intern to President Clinton and worked with the President in his Harlem office. While I thought I was blessed to travel with Congressman Jackson I think it is even cooler to travel with a former President to South Korea. Another classmate is a former Huron employee and worked alot with the United Airlines bankruptcy. Another classmate is politically savvy but she is on the other side of the aisle. She was an administrative staffer for Washington, DC think tank and after that worked for the White House. I am in good company.

My schedule is sporadic, this ensures 1L's do not work, additionally, the amount of reading required is astronomical! However, if it were easy everyone would do it. To whom much is given hence much is required. You all know much was given to me, thus...

When we help others we are indirectly helping ourselves.

From Brian Cross, Proviso Township Young Democrat Extrodinaire.

Dear Friends

As you know 5 years ago, shortly after Sandy & I were married, Sandy's Sister Sue was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Disease. By the grace of god, Sue was cured, since that time, my family has been very involved in the cause of curing cancer. Recently Sandy and Sue teaming together with Family and friends were able to raise over $4K for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through a Hockey Tournement they held in Vernon Hills Illinois called Puck Cancer.
To that end....
I am raising money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as a participant in their Light The Night Walk and I'm asking you to help by making a contribution. Each donation helps accelerate cures for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma and brings hope to the patients and families who are on the front lines of the battle against these diseases.
Please use the link in this email to donate online quickly and securely. You will receive a confirmation by email of your donation and I will be notified as soon as you make your donation.
On behalf of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, thank you very much for your support. I really appreciate your generosity!
You can learn more about my efforts and make a donation by visiting the following Web site:

P.S. Please forward this email to as many people as you can to encourage them to donate as well! If you'd like to learn more about the Light The Night Walk, please visit http://www.lightthenight.org
Thank you for your help, Even a Donation of $5 or $10 helps :)

All politics is local!

Even though I am a national officer with YDA, I shall never forget my friends who helped me get there. Listed below are details for the Young Democrats of Cook County meeting. My good friend Mr. J. Omar Williams is the Chairman and we need to support him. The meetings are fun and there is some sort of hospitality that follows. Please join my friend for his first post-convention meeting.

My first executive committee meeting

Being a national officer is not always glamorous. My first executive committee meeting was the Sunday following elections and all participants looked pretty beat up. The meeting began a few minutes late so, I ran out for coffee (actually, it was a strawberry frappacino- but that does not sound as manly). The meeting was brief and I sat next to the newly elected secretary, Mr. Rob Dolin; a fellow Illini. I found out I need to be bonded (whatever in the hell that means)! So, now I must give money to some insurance agent, yeah!

So, let this be a lesson to you, be careful what you ask for.

Thank you.

Today, I serve as the Treasurer of the Young Democrats of America. I consider this a great honor and privlege. Over the next few days I will post my comments regarding the convention and invite your questions and feedback.

I know the only reason why I was able to go this far is because people prayed for me, supported me, counseled me and invested in me.

Thank you all.
