Interesting reading

For those of you on the cusp of politics and policy and not hard core policy wonks like Brian Cross, Nick Daggers and myself, you might find this an interesting read. While I do not promote the lifestyle, it does exsist. Luckily no one has attempted to take advantage of me for my good looks!

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers WeeklyCutler, the lowly Senate staffer who rocked the Capital last year with her salacious online diary, rehashes her ride into infamy in a tart, shallow tell-all that begs off as fiction. Smart but spoiled Jacqueline heads for the Hill after a broken engagement in New York. Soon this party girl is cavorting through the Capitol, where shameless flirting and sex appeal take her a long way. In Jacqueline's opinion, government is "Hollywood for the Ugly," and she coasts on her looks to score a fluffy job in a senator's office and effortlessly entice politicos on the prowl. She mines her dizzying array of casual sexploits, dished in callous, raunchy detail, for a blog to keep her friends in the loop ("I was a bitchy slut and so were all of my friends. Why not put it out there?"). Jacqueline winds up on D.C. gossip site Blogetteā€”prompting her abrupt dismissal, an underdeveloped bit of soul-searching and lots of media attention. The flimsy garb of fiction makes for one coy striptease: just how much of Jessica emerges in Jacqueline? Who are the real-life counterparts to her paramours? For those who can conjure last summer's scandal, the reprise will liven up this year's beach batch. Agents, Michael Carlisle and Pilar Queen. Roll Call

Even though Detroit is this weekend, we must begin preparing for San Francisco. Even though YDI leadership has encouraged people not to buy tickets just yet because of the labor disputes please plan accordingly. Please see this website www.ydabythebay.com. Regardless, let me know that you are coming to the YDA convention, regardless of location, date and outcome.

Deep Throat?

Do you think former FBI officer Mark Felt is really Deep Throat? Please share your thoughts.

YDA goes to Detroit

Please share your Detroit experiences. Additionally, please share your past YDA National Committee Meeting experiences. For many people, either visiting D-town or doing a YDA National Committee Meeting will be first. Please, all vets share your experiences for the neophytes.

Political TV

What are your favoirte political shows. They can be dramas, comedies, news shows, documentaries etc. I'll go first.

Downstate?

Does the Governor have problems south of Champaign-Urbana? If so, what are they? The Governor has made alot of Chicagoans mad, but how do downstaters view the Governor?

Give me your ideas, re: fundraiser

As you all know I must fundraise in order to be competitive for this YDA post. Give me some ideas for fundraisers. I know the traditional, cocktail reception, fundraising letter etc. But is there something I am missing? Thanks for the ideas.

Pick your rising star

There are many rising stars in the Young Democrats of Illinois. Who do you predict to go far. Name the person and the position that person will hold at the peak of their career.
i.e. April Williams, Fmr. Chairwoman YDCC, State Representative

What does it take?

Young people that are civic minded attempt to run for office. Unfortunately, many fail their first time around. In recipe format what is needed for a young person ( I consider 35 and younger to be a young person) to be a successful candidate. I'll go first.

Why?

Why are you a Young Democrat or why are you a young person involved in poltics? Maybe these postings can begin some dialogue that will help us get our colleagues engaged.

Just for fun :-)

What is the coolest job in politics? I will answer after a few days. I am very curious to know what you all think. It may be anything Chairman, Federal Reserve Bank; Vice-President of the United States; Ambassador to a Carribbean nation; President of the World Bank etc. Let me know.

For all of those interested in Illinois politics!

Please rate the current performance of the governor (please use a numerical standard with 10 points being the highest or a letter grading system that may include plus and minus). Additionally, please respond with a one word yes or no if you think Rod will be re-elected.

What should be the role of the YDA treasurer?

I want to hear from YD members and other professionals to get your feedback on the role of the YDA treasurer. My candidacy is one of inclusion and diversity. I need multiple views to do my job effectively, please respond.
