I need your opinion

The following is a story forwarded to me by my good friend Officer Lou. I forwarded it to my Law School list serve. I received several replies that it was hillarious. However, I received one, stating it was offensive. I shall post the story and post the reply. I am a man of the people, tell me what I should do?

Entire Family Beats Child

Urbana, Illinois - A seven-year-old boy was at the center of a
Champaign County courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy has a history of
being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to
his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulations requiring
that family unity be maintained to the degree possible.
The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him
more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When
the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy
cried out that they also beat him.

After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning
that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the
judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who
should have custody of him. After two recesses to check legal references
and confer with child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary
custody to the University of Illinois Football Team, whom the boy
firmly believes are not currently capable of beating anyone.

Child abuse humor really isn't very funny. Especially not the type of joke to send to a wide and diverse group.

However worthy the U of I football team is of mockery, there are many parents and advocates of juvenile justice in this mailing group - as well, statistics would say, as many students and faculty who may have been beaten as children themselves.

I respectfully ask that you retract having found this to be funny, and an apology would be welcomed.
Thank you.
What should I do?

Dave...Our law school is filled with children dressed in adult costumes.

Everyday there is someone running to the Dean to tattle.

Our finest students visit the local bars 3-4 times per week.

Nearly everyone is interested in ruining someone's future.

The individuals are very competitive, yet insecure.

Are you THAT threatened by me???

I still cannot believe that this is a PROFESSIONAL SCHOOL. If it weren't for the professors, this would be middle school.
