Who will be the new Treasurer?

What are the rumors on the street. Will any of the current (Republican) gubnetorial candidates rethink his plans and aim for the Treasurer spot? Who are the leading candidates for the Dems?

My prediction, Sen. Rauschenberger will seek the Treasurer's position. I'll get back to you about the Dem. I am thinking of a particular Chicago Alderman from the Southside of Chicago, but let me think it through.

Are you sure you are taking the "ego" factor into account?

The Zogby poll published in the Wall Street Journal says that Blagojevich and Rauschenberger have been tied for almost three months now.

Don't you think he will use the argument that he is most likely to beat Blagojevich to convince himself to stay in the race.

Cal,

First, thank you for your comment. For those of you who do not know Cal is a Godfather in the Blogosphere, thank you for visiting me.

Second, I was not aware of that poll. So I may have spoke too soon. However, of all the GOP candidates I think he is the most electable, but this an uphill fight for and GOP'er. Whereas, running for Treas. gives him a platform for future engagements and his status as GOP budget negotiator makes a good fit. Allow me to rethink my proposition and get back to you.

But I will say this, that one of the candidates should pursue the Treas. seat. If not Rauschenberger maybe Brady. Gidwitz has too much ego and Oberweis doesn't have enough.
